Kansas Secretary of State Business Search

On to Kansas! The Kansas Secretary of State business search is a pretty simple search. There is no advanced search option. You can search by business name, their “entity ID number”, or by resident agent (I’m assuming this is the same as a registered agent) information.

Here is the official search page.

If you want a way to search for a business in any state, please feel free to use our verify a business tool here, free of charge. It looks a little like this. It allows you to also easily copy and download the data.

While it is not required to be registered with the KS Secretary of State to do smaller business before you do anything like open a business checking account or get a business loan, you must register with the state. Kansas Secretary of State Entity Search

The results were lightning fast, less than a second. I think it’s noteworthy that they restrict total results to 400 which probably contributes to their speed. Here’s the results:

Kansas secretary of state search results for pizza

Business name, status, ID number. All standard response stuff in a results table if a little on the sparser side.

Here are the details of “Pizza Farm, LLC”. I wish there was a farm where you could grow pizza.

No officer information but it does have documents. It requires a click through and an agreement to not use the information for prohibited purposes (such as marketing). I went into the documents here and it did have the name of the organizer but there wasn’t anything else in there (such as email addresses or phone numbers) that wasn’t shown in the details page.

Search by Registered Agent

The Kansas Secretary of State business search has the ability to search by individual. And while the registered agent (resident agent here) isn’t always the owner of the business, it’s very common for it to be so.

Let’s try it.

So it’s similar results as when we search by business name but it adds a field for the Agent Name. Cool.

Extra Credit

For all of my power users out there. You can access any of this business data via API. This can be handy for things like:

  • Business verification
  • KYC/KYB (know your business) anti-money laundering
  • Business credit check
  • Finding business owner information

It’s as simple as this:

let url = `https://apigateway.cobaltintelligence.com/v1/search?searchQuery=${encodeURIComponent(businessName)}&state=${state}`;

const axiosResponse = await axios.get(url, {
    headers: {
        'x-api-key': this.apiKey
    }
});

return axiosResponse.data;

Hello there. I’m Jordan Hanson. I’m from cobalt intelligence today. I’m talking about the Kansas secretary of state does search. Now the Kansas secretary of state doesn’t search is just, okay. It’s also one of my not favorites. Um, but we’ll go through it right now. Now, before we get into it, I want to show that we have a tool here called uh, the verified business tool by cobalt intelligence.

It allows you to do all of those searching from any state, all in one location. It’s all free. You come over here. You search. And you can get the information here now. The underlying power here is with an API that we have. So if you’re a power user and you want to use secretary, get secretary of state Viet data, albeit API, you can do that.

You can come over here and click here in API key and then access all this data programmatically. And in the meantime, let’s go back to Kansas and it will search here. So the cool thing, one cool thing about the Kansas is you can search by name ability, availability. I know that’s a big thing when people are registering their business and they’re trying to get their business off the ground, they want to confirm that the name is available.

So to be able to do that here, That’s a nice thing to do, rather than trying to search their database. Let’s come over here to there. So you can search by registered agents name, which is also a cool thing. Uh, that way you can find if someone isn’t a business owner, you can kind of find all the businesses they own.

Now, resident, agent is not the same thing as owner, but oftentimes it is. Um, it’s not, it doesn’t have to be, but oftentimes it is. So we’re going go over here and search by business name. What I searched for over here. Pizza. Yeah, pizza. We’re gonna look for pizza. Farm, LLC. Dozens of good. Cool. Uh, pizza farm.

Now, the reason why we chose pizza farm over here is because it’s the first act of one. So it come in this list, see all these they’re kind of old. So we’ll go over here. This is the first act of one we’re going to check it. And this is the information we have. We have the registered agent information, at least, and we have the state of organization, like the jurisdiction of it, which is good.

Uh, we have history and documents that we’re gonna check to see if we can see any. Okay. I said, okay, all right. They’re saying, Hey, don’t use this information for bad stuff. Let me click it. I said downloaded it. What’s going on here?

Uh, I’ll pop up blocked. I see where there it is. There it is. And we have documents now. Is there anything cool in here? Nope. I just don’t email justice or anything like that. I don’t, which is not expected, but it’s nice when they’re there. And that’s the Kansas secretary of state business search. I think the information it’s kind of the search is kind of lame.

You can’t search by entity status. Like you can’t search by active, you can’t search by filing date range. You can’t search by officer and you can’t even view the officer on this page. You can only be the registered agent. So Kansas is just okay for that. It’s really fast. The searches, at least like you come back here and it searches really quick.

This is like asked, but that’s it, that’s the Kansas secretary of state entity search. Um, Thanks.
